The hydraulic characteristics of Roman lead water pipes: An experimental investigation
نویسندگان
چکیده
An experimental investigation was conducted on two lengths of Roman lead water pipe excavated near Corbridge, Northumberland, England. The pipes date from approximately AD 80. One length contained a sleeve joint. were linked to pump system using 3 D-printed connectors, and the hydraulic head loss along measured. without joint used determine value for wall roughness height, fitting results Darcy-Weisbach equation. height obtained assumed apply with joint, additional observed then be due allowing determination local coefficient. have sinter encrustation, indicating that they had typically flowed partially full. Using this as an indication depth deriving topographical information excavation report, likely flow carried during their operational life estimated. It concluded coefficient ks 0.9 mm, 1.159, operation probably around 17 litres/minute.

Experimental Investigation of the Characteristics of Hydraulic Jump in a Diverging Stilling Basin with an Adverse Slope Using Baffle Blocks
Stilling basins have been used as an energy dissipater downstream of hydraulic structures. Dimensions of the stilling basins depends on hydraulic jump characteristics. In this research diverging hydraulic jump with an adverse slope using baffle blocks and an end sill have been studied experimentally and effect of diverging angle of the walls, adverse bed slope and baffle blocks on the hydraulic...

This paper describes a study conducted to develop a method to facilitate more reliable determination of the rehabilitation priority order for water pipes by taking into account the pipes’ hydraulic importance. Existing methods use only the pipeline deterioration rate to determine the rehabilitation priority order. Accordingly, the deterioration rate under normal conditions and the hydraulic imp...
متن کاملAn experimental investigation of rheological characteristics of non- Newtonian nanofluids
Rheological characteristics of Al2O3, CuO and TiO2 nano particles were investigated in oil asthe base fluid at 1 and 2 wt.%. Constitutive relations for non-Newtonian fluid were discussedbased on the power-law model. Measured viscosities of each nanofluid were used to evaluatethe power-law and consistency index. Results indicated that the nanofluid viscosity decreasedby increasing the concentrat...
متن کاملAn Experimental Investigation of Magnetized Water Effect on Formation Damage
In oil industries, water injection into oil reservoirs for pressure maintenance, oil displacement, and oil recovery is a common technique. Formation damage during water injection is a major problem in this process. Formation damage from the incompatibility of formation water (FW) and injection water (IW) causes a reduction in the permeability around the injection wells. Therefore, it is necessa...
